Zizyphus Spina- Christi
Sedr is a plant, a member of “Ramnasbeh” which exists in South of Iran, its fruit is edible, its leaves, after being dried and powdered, are used for washing hair and body. Cedr leaf contains Tannin and herbal strolls such as Beta stroll and Beta stroll glycoside, as well as Sapunin Eblin Laktun, Calcium Oxalate, Potassium, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus.
Tannin strengthens the sculp.
Eblin Lakton, is the factor in Cedr leaf that makes foam and mucilage and is a member of steroid Sapunin. It can be used as the basic substance for producing Steroid hormones.
Sapunin has a high cleansing ability.
Qualities and Usage of Cedr:
Sedr is a bitter, light green powder which produces bubble and mucilage in water and has a high cleansing ability.
Sedr strengthens hair and fights dandruff.
Sedr does not irritate skin, because of this fact it can be used in case of hair loss caused by usage of soaps.
Sedr is effective in curing infections and diseases of skin; it is also used for washing the skin.
The ones who wash their skin with Cedr, can easily bare climatic changes.
Sedr leaf has always been used for washing hair.
Medical and nutritional value:
Sedr fruit has always been used as food or medicine. Nowadays, in Khuzestan, Kerman, banks of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, and also in India and Africa where sedr grows, people eat its fresh fruits. In Khuzestan sedr flour is used as a common food.
Sedr wood:
Sedr wood is flexible and is used for carrying loads. It is also used as fuel. If it is boiled in water a liquid extract is produced, this substance has Zizifutanik Acid and is red which was used as hair color in the past.
